South Korea Wins Improbable Gold in Baseball

BEIJING (AP) -- There's a new champion in Olympic baseball: the surprising South Koreans.

South Korea captured the gold medal and capped a perfect Olympic run with the country's biggest win in international baseball, a 3-2 victory over defending champion Cuba on Saturday night.

The South Koreans ran their record to 9-0 by beating the mighty Cubans in what could be baseball's Olympic farewell. The sport is off the program for the 2012 London Games.
South Korean reliever Chong Tae-hyon got Yuliesky Gourriel to ground into a double play with the bases loaded to end a dramatic ninth inning.
